What is NFC?

Near Field Communication or NFC is a two way contact-less communication between two NFC enabled devices that are close to each other.

Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay are best examples of NFC interfaces for mobile phones for payment transfers.

NFC mobile payments are one of the secure ways to pay as they are dynamically encrypted.

NFC is solely not a mode of payment transfer, but it can be integrated with marketing flyers and brochures, so that when the NFC tag is tapped by phone you may receive product information, features, configuration etc. alongwith the softcopy of brochure and other resources downloaded to your devices instantly.

Working of NFC

NFC enables devices to connect wirelessly and communicate when they are held close to each other.

NFC is a subject under RFID which is based on radio waves identification. RFID is relatively an old technology in use even today, it is used in cattle farms, grocery stores and luggage tags at airports.

NFC uses a RFID frequency of 13.56MHz for contactless and close range communication. The common use of NFC is inside access cards to gain entry in secured buildings and establishments. Off lately NFC is used to execute contactless payments. Contactless payment means there is no need of a physical contact between the mobile phone and point of sale device, we only need to bring phone in close proximity of payment terminal.
